Company Profile

Company Background

PRofessional Solutions, LLC began in 1994 as the Washington metropolitan area's first and only public relations temporary services agency. We still are.

Since then we have filled the temporary PR and communications staffing needs of associations and non-profits, corporations and small businesses, government agencies and PR firms.  And thanks to technology our locally-based associates have taken on assignments across the country.

The Management Team

KATE PERRIN, CEO, (pictured left with 2009 WWPR PR Woman of the Year Sarah Temple) founded the company in 1994 after 20 years in public relations and marketing communications.

Prior to founding PRofessional Solutions, LLC Kate developed health and safety public education campaigns as director of public relations for The American College of Emergency Physicians, managed media relations, publications, video and film development as director of public affairs at Youth for Understanding International Exchange and at Trinity College (Washington, DC) she directed public relations, advertising and publications and helped launch the Weekend College.

In 2009 Kate was honored with the Matrix Award from the Association for Women in Communications, DC Chapter.  She chaired the first PR Woman of the Year Award for Washington Women in Public Relations in 1990, later served on the Board and was elected president.  She served on the Board of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC-DC) in several roles and received the 1998 Volunteer of the Year award.

Kate credits over 10 years of yoga with keeping her flexible in dealing with clients and associates and balanced in her approach to PR.

MELANIE JORDAN, MANAGING DIRECTOR, (on left in photo with fellow WWPR board member) joined the agency in 1997 as Marketing Manager and was promoted in 2002 to handle client service and account supervision and management of operations.

Previously, in the competitive environment of enrollment marketing for college admissions, Melanie specialized in marketing, direct mail and event planning.  Her expertise was instrumental in launching PRofessional Solutions’ new graphic identity in celebration of its 5th anniversary in 1999, including the development of its Web site.

Because she has been an active PTA member in her children's schools, leader of a Senior Girl Scout troop and Communications merit badge counselor for a Boy Scout troop, Melanie knows how to manage time, people and projects.  She can light a fire in the woods and under managers slow to make decisions.

The Associates

We only employed talented, experienced professionals on behalf of our clients though our pool of talent continually changes as the marketplace changes--some people accept jobs while new associates move into the DC area.

Many PRofessional Solutions’ associates are freelancers and consultants who supplement their own client work with temporary public relations assignments, some are retired and take only occasional assignments, and others accept temporary situations while seeking full-time positions.

Although we try to identify associates with experience in special fields of interest to our clients,  we believe that good public relations practitioners can transfer their skills quickly to serve new clients and issues.
