Matrix Scholarship
Michelle
Cardoso, a sophomore at the University of Maryland in the University
Honors Program, majoring in Communications with an emphasis in public
relations, received the 2008 AWC-DC Matrix Scholarship, sponsored by
PRofessional Solutions, LLC.
In
a long-term arrangement the DC chapter of the Association for Women in
Communications, PRofessional Solutions will sponsor the Matrix Scholarship
for at least three years.
“We
are so proud to join AWC-DC in fostering the development of future women
leaders in our profession,” said PRofessional Solutions CEO Kate
Perrin at the luncheon at May ’08 luncheon at the National Press Club.

Women in Public Relations (WWPR) Washington PR Woman of the Year
awards program on November 14, 2007. More than 200 PR professionals
attended the luncheon at the Renaissance Mayflower Hotel.
Jennifer
Wayman, Senior Vice President/Co-Group Director at Ogilvy Public Relations
Worldwide was honored for her outstanding work and contribution to the
profession. Helen Thomas, "The First Lady of the Press"
and syndicated columnist for Hearst newspapers delivered the keynote
address.
The event also
served as a benefit for WWPR's pro bono client, Doorways for Women and
Families, with donations from raffle ticket sales.
