Katherine
Cotsonas, a junior at
American University with a double major in Broadcast Journalism and
International Relations, received the 2010 AWC-DC Matrix Scholarship, sponsored by
PRofessional Solutions, LLC.
In
a long-term arrangement with the DC chapter of the Association for Women in
Communications, this is the third year PRofessional Solutions has sponsored the Matrix Scholarship.
“We
are proud to support the development of future women
leaders in our profession,” said PRofessional Solutions Managing
Director Melanie Jordan at the May 19 reception at the National Press Club.

Solutions, LLC Sponsors Emerging Leaders Awards
PRofessional Solutions,
LLC was pleased to serve as a sponsor of Washington Women in Public
Relations' newly created 2010 Emerging Leaders Awards program held June 15
at Social Restaurant. Three outstanding young women, ages 21-35, in the DC
area who have excelled in public relations were recognized. The recipients
were Carrie Fox, president and founder of C.Fox Communications, Lauren
Musiol, senior account executive at GYMR, and Stefanie Pidgeon, a
communications planner for the U.S. Army.
Perrin Honored at 2009 AWC-DC Matrix Award Luncheon

Solutions' CEO Kate
Perrin received a Matrix Award for Professional Achievement from the
DC chapter of the Association of Women in Communications (AWC-DC) at an
annual luncheon where the chapter recognizes top women communicators in
the region. The luncheon was held on May 14th at the National Press Club.
Michelle Singletary, nationally syndicated columnist for The Washington
Post and author was also honored.
Past recipients
include Eleanor Clift, Cokie Roberts and Andrea Mitchell. Clift, the 2008
Matrix award winner, served as emcee of the event.

Woman of the Year

LLC and other contributors to The Capital Buzz blog were proud to be
sponsors of the 20th annual
Washington
Women in Public Relations (WWPR) Washington PR Woman of the Year
awards program on November 5, 2009.
PRofessional
Solutions, LLC CEO Kate Perrin, who chaired the first PR Woman of the Year
award 20 years ago, presented the award to Senior Vice President of Social
Marketing Practice, Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide Sarah Temple at the
luncheon, attended by more than 200 PR professionals.
“Sarah Temple was selected as the 2009 PR Woman of the Year for
setting the benchmark in terms of her strategic communications planning,
partnership development and social responsibility programming,” said
Lauren Lawson, president of WWPR. Temple’s experience includes
spearheading the award-winning National Heart, Lung and Blood
Institute’s (NHLBI) “The Heart Truth” campaign, raising awareness
about heart disease in women. Currently, she advises NHLBI on community
and corporate partner outreach and directs the Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention’s Screen for Life’s campaign.
The event featured a keynote by Dana Bash, CNN’s senior congressional
correspondent. A raffle was held to benefit WWPR’s pro bono client, the
Children's Law Center, the only organization that provides comprehensive
free legal representation specifically for children who have been abused
and neglected, have special education or health care needs.
